It is important to place the chin strap before the patient positions its head on the horseshoe. The circulator is advised to position the patient on the horseshoe, with its pillow before induction.
Ensure that the mayfield bed attachments are securely locked.

Traction always starts with 5 lbs sandbag. Prepare 10 lbs sandbag as the surgeon may increase traction weight.
